The accessible, to the visitor, wineries of the island are seven in number. Three of them are in Lixouri, three in the south and one in the plateau of Omalos in the Aino. In Lixouri towards the Monopolata you will find the Xaritato’s estate, property of one of the oldest families with presence to the Libro d’ Oro. Their wines, the fairy-tale estate with the centenarian trees and the traditional buildings are a great emotive experience. Climbing up the imposing Ainos and reaching the monastery of Saint Gerasimos you will have the chance to meet the wines of the kefalonian Rompola’s association. A little further from the city of Argostoli towards the airport, you will find the winery Gentilini, one of the oldest but still in action wineries of the island, from one of the oldest families with presence to the Libro d’ Oro. In the winery you can try many and exceptional wines.

During summer many cultural events are organized in the island. In the beginning of August in the abandoned village Vlaxata, close to Sami, the Saristra Festival, a music and art festival, is held . On the twenty-fourth of August in the beautiful village of Asso a barcarolle takes place ( boats with musicians cantors who sail in circles in the harbor) creating a full of magic scene. SeaNema Open Air Film Festival during which the incomparable beauty of the beaches and the seaside spots of Kefalonia transformed into unique outdoor cinema theaters where one can watch various types of films from all over the world.
